Title from illuminated title page on fol. 1a; also on lower edge.
Physical description: 17 lines per page; written in small nastaʻliq in black on glazed, laid Arabic paper. Text bordered by gold lines; columns separated by double gold lines. Headings in gold; catchwords. Fol. 1a-2a, 142b are gold-sprinkled. Light staining and smudging; otherwise in excellent condition.
Decoration: On fol. 1a, title set within mandorla illuminated with blue, gold, and green. On fol. 1b, illuminated ʻunwān in gold and colors, inscribed in white with "al-Ḥamd li-walīh."
Origin: According to colophon, copy completed by Yaʻqūb ibn ʻAbd al-Karīm on 6 Rabīʻ II 843 H [16 September 1439], but a later hand has written an illegible number over the second digit in the year (fol. 142b).
Binding Note
Full brown leather with flap; blind-stamped central mandorla, pendants, and corner pieces and blind-tooled fillets. On the front cover the mandorla contains two lions; on the back cover, a lion slaying a deer. On the flap is a triangular stamp containing a monkey. Doublures are maroon leather with central mandorla and corner pieces in maroon and gold filigree on a blue background. In excellent condition.
