Illustrations depict landscape and traditional life, yurts along the shore in one scene, log cabin school, reindeer, elk, traditional dress, little boy reading to greatly impressed father, gradually introducing the advantages of communist government and technological advance: community meeting on p. 37, boy being treated by eye doctor, family with record player on p. 57, tractor and tram on p. 61.
