The first image shows a man in his house drinking, while his wife and children look on. A cow is seen escaping through a fence outside. The second image shows a group of men in a general store. A man behind a counter pours drinks while one man is seen vomiting while sitting on a barrel, and a white man and African American man are seen fighting in front of the fireplace. The third scene shows the man sitting on the floor with an overturned chair in front of him. His children are gathered near the fireplace and his wife is crying in a chair. The last scene shows the family in a horse and carriage being taken from their foreclosed home to the alms house. A pig pen is seen in the foreground.
