Something went wrong!
Hang in there while we get back on track
The phenomenon of military reenactments is highly popular in Belarus, with a predominant focus on episodes from the Second World War. A telling example are the photographs from the series "A la guerre come a la guerre," taken at the historical and cultural complex Stalin Line (Minsk district), a site annually visited by admirers of the Soviet military history. Here, they reenact battles in which one group is assigned the role of the "fallen," playing dead and lying on the ground until the event comes to an end. In addition to the dubious moral and ethical value these reenactments, even their historicity remains uncertain, since there is no agreement on this chapter of Soviet history.
