Dictionary of Qurʼanic pronounciation with references to corresponding verses; table of contents on leaves 3b-7a. Translated from the Turkish original by Muḥammad Samīʻ ibn Shaykh Ardalānī and his brother ʻAbd Allāh for Sulaymān Pāshā; see Dānishgāh-i Tihrān catalogue for further information. The translators state that the original was written in Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1155 H (leaf 10a), but they must be referring to the date of the copy they used as the author lived in the 11th century Hijri.

Collation: Paper ; fol. viii + 258 + ii ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals, foliation skips from 13 to 24.
Layout: 17 lines per page.
Description: Written in casual nastaʻliq and generic script in black on two types of laid European paper. Entries in green; letter headings and references in red. Catchwords. Watermarks (first and last two folios: coat-of-arms with roman-alphabet letters "AZC", three crescents; fol. (i) at beginning-178: fleur-de-lis with "FC"; three hats with "A"). Some staining; a few leaves are mildewed. In good condition.
Origin: According to colophon copied 11 [Dhū al-Qadah?] 1190 by Maḥmūd ibn ... al-Ḥājjī (fol. 258a).

Binding Note
Later type II (with flap) binding in dark brown leather. Blind-stamped mandorla with pendants and blind-tooled edging on covers. Similar decoration on flap. Light brown leather doublures.
