- Medium: Aquatints, Hand coloring
- Depiction: An ill-favored old maid, who is evidently a person of fortune, is seated on her sofa between two admirers, a clergyman and a military officer, who are respectively ambitious of the honour of her hand. Her old-maidish tastes are indicated by the nature of her pets. A monkey, seated in the embrasure of the window, is scratching his ear. He is supported on the opposite side by a parrot, which is screaming with the full force of its lungs.
