"The Afghan media landscape has shrunk dramatically under the new Taliban regime. Since August 2021, more than half of Afghan media outlets have closed down. Compounded by other difficulties, this has forced hundreds of Afghan journalists—women, in particular—out of their jobs. In many instances, they have been forced to leave the country.
