Provenance
Garrett MS. 118 was written in England in the 13th century, to judge from script and decoration. An early ownership inscription and anathema, erased and covered in the 19th century with the Phillipps number, but still readable in part under ultraviolet light. Intermediate provenance is unknown. Robert Garrett (1875-1961), of Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 1897, purchased the manuscript from Quaritch on 27 September 1900. Garrett's gift to the Princeton University Library, 1942.

Script: Textualis libraria.
Decoration: English Gothic. Preface opens on fol. 1r with a 4-line initial M in light-blue with red penwork. The text begins on fol. 2r with a 9-line initial G of red and blue interlace with a single beast's head, the interlace outlined in red and back-filled with gold, the letter set on a pale blue square field with a green frame.
Binding Note
England, 14th century (?). Alum-tawed deerskin over cushioned wooden boards (7.5 mm thick).
