Provenance
In the library of the Premonstratensian Abbey of St. Peter and St. Paul, Weissenau. Intermediate provenance unknown. F.S. Ellis and David White acquired the manuscript and in 1877 sold it to Lord Jonathan Peckover who later bequethed it to Algerina Peckover. Sold at Sotheby's, London, on 12 December 1927. Maggs Bros. sold it in 1928 to Senator David Aiken Reed, Princeton Class of 1900. His gift to the Princeton University Library in December 1946 (accessioned as AM 13259).

Collation: Parchment ; fol. ii + 50 + i ; quires signed: 1-5 ; modern foliation in pencil.
Layout: 19 lines per page in a central column with gloss columns on either side.
Decoration: 14-line historiated initial A of evangelist John sitting on uncolored vine-stem on periwinkle blue, orange-red, and green grounds, with one green beast-head; an ochre-colored beast inhabits the uppermost tendril (fol. 1v). Canticles opens with a 7-line historiated initial O depicting a bust of Solomon crowned in center of initial of uncolored vine-stem, set on periwinkle-blue, orange-red, and dark green grounds (fol. 39r). Prefaces and subdivisions within text marked with simple, orange-red Romanesque initials of 1–3 lines.
Origin: Likely created at the Premonstratensian Abbey of St. Peter and St. Paul, Weissenau, located near Ravenburg in Swabia.
Binding Note
Later binding. England, 19th century. Brown morocco over pasteboard. Each cover is blind-stamped frame filled with 13 rectangular stamps that have an interlacing pattern. Sewn on five bands; endbands with secondary sewing in brown.
