Medium: Etchings, Hand coloring
Depiction: A veritable bovine specimen, a fine Alderney, dressed out in the reigning mode. The fore part in female guise, on the head a gigantic hat of the cart-wheel order, straw trimmed and garnished, huge earrings, the extensive muslin "choker" a miniature of a bull round the cow's neck, ladies' buckled shoes, and ribboned sandles on the forelegs, and maccaroni's hessians and tassels on the hind ones. A lady's shawl thrown over the shoulders, according to the fashionable costume worn at the end of the eighteenth century.
