Royal charter (carta de foral ), 3 June 1514, for the taxation of four municipalities (consejos of Mondim de Basto, Cerva, Ermelo, and Atey) in the corregimento of Guimaraens, Province of Minho, in northwestern Portugal. The charter lists duties to be assessed for the crown and these municipalities, and penalties for illegal taxation, carrying of weapons, and other infractions

- Description: comparable in format, script, and binding to other royal charters issued under King Manuel I of Portugal, such as a 1513 charter (New York, Morgan Library and Museum, M. 1022).
- Decoration: Large heraldic initial D with the royal arms of Portugal, which are rendered in gold, silver, red, rose, vermilion, blue, and green (fol. 1r). The bottom half of fol. 1r has a floral border in red, blue, green, and gold. Throughout text 2- and 3-line alternating red and blue initials on a penwork background.
- Accompanying materials: With 1 seal (lead, 3.5 cm. diam.), on a braided cord bearing the royal arms of Portugal.
- Binding Note
- Contemporaneous binding. Portugal, approximately 1514. Blind-tooled reddish brown goatskin over tapered oak (?) boards (7 mm thick). 5 brass bosses. Remnants of clasps in the form of 2 end straps and brass catchplates.
