Item Summary
"We, the people of Pakistan, hereby declare that sustainable peace is indispensable for the progress, prosperity, and wellbeing of our country. We acknowledge that deviations from the principles and values of democracy, violations of the Constitution and fundamental rights, weak rule of law, and religious conflicts and political polarization have destabilized our society and have led to immense losses of precious lives and national resources. Therefore, we, the people of Pakistan, are committed to resetting our national direction and building a future that is free from instability and violence where all citizens can live in peace and harmony. In pursuit of these goals, we, the people of Pakistan, agree on this Charter of Peace which represents our collective will and our shared values and principles and provides a roadmap for achieving a peaceful and prosperous society for our future generations."
