- Provenance
- The manuscript may have been produced for a member of the Rokeby family of Yorkshire, whose arms are drawn in dark brown ink at the bottom of fol. 122r. An inscription on the paper flyleaf designated fol. 150r mentions Richard Storye (Storey?), of Thornton, Yorkshire: “Richard storye of thorntone in the cuntye of york buttler butleribus (?)" with the date 1591. Other inscriptions in the same hand or in a similar contemporary hand read: “Johannes bearyk in comitatum” (front medieval parchment flyleaf), “Johannes London” (fol. 1r); “Willielmus anleff” (fol. 19v) and “Johannes bearyk” (fol. 150r). Robert Garrett (1875-1961), of Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 1897, purchased the manuscript in July 1925 from the London bookseller Ellis and gifted it to Princeton University Library in 1942.

- Decoration: initials with pen flourishes; crowns, orbs, scepters, swords, and heraldic banners drawn in margins highlighted in red.
- Origin: Produced in England, possibly in Yorkshire around 1470 or 1471, when King Henry VI (who is mentioned in the text) was briefly restored to the throne.
- Binding Note
- Bound in England, in the late 16th or early 17th century, with the textblock sewn on four alum-tawed thongs laced into an old limp-parchment wrapper with yapps and two end-ties.
