Provenance
Owned by Guillaume Lallemant in 1493. In the possession of the Rousselet family of Lyon during the 16th century. Intermediate provenance is unknown. In the 1880s, owned by Comte Marc de Vesvrotte, in Dijon whose library was sold in 1886. Sold at the American Art Association in New York in 1923 where it was purchased by Florence Sturdivant of Boston. Robert Garrett purchased it at a sale at the American Art Association in New York in 1925 through the antiquarian bookseller Ernest Dressel North. He later donated the manuscript to Princeton University in 1942.

Sed salomon primo quem david genuit israel rex venit inritum fundens parabola quadam audi quid protulit idem. Audiens sapiens sapientior erit, et intelligens gubernacula possidebit [Prov. 1: 5] ..."

Collation: Parchment ; fol. v (upper pastedown labeled "i") + 112 (lower pastedown labeled "113" ; catchwords ; contemporary foliation in ink.
Layout: 30 lines per page ; ruled.
Decoration: Framed miniature of the Judgement of Solomon, painted by the Lallemant Master (fol. 1r). 5-line foliate initial A with gold-infilling, numerous 1- or 2-line initials decorated in red, green, white and gold. Gold paraph marks on square fields of green, red, and blue.
Origin: 15th century.
Binding Note
Later binding. French, 16th century. Black morocco with blind and gilt fillets and a fleur-de-lis in the center of covers. Gilt fleur-de-lis on spine. Gilt edges. Endbands. Double ribbon ties (missing).
