Columns 1-2 relate to arithmetic, including the four basic arithmetical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division); rule of three; and the rule of companies (relating to sharing profit or loss of associates relative to their interest in the company). Column 3 contains verses by the Lyon merchant and money-changer François Garin (ca. 1413-ca. 1460), extracted from his La complainte de François Garin (1460).The vernacular French text is written in three columns on the recto only, with large letters decorated with cadels and Arabic numbers.
