God our protector and refuge in danger and trouble. A discourse, delivered at the public lecture in Boston, on Thursday, March 16, 1797 / by John Lathrop ; with an appendix, containing an account of several daring attempts to set fire to the town and rob the inhabitants; together with hints tending to the security of populous towns and cities against the evils to which they are more particularly exposed.

Part of The Sid Lapidus '59 Collection on Liberty and the American Revolution
After nearly 60 years of collecting, Sid Lapidus ’59 has presented to the Library more than 2700 volumes representing the fruits of his enthusiasm. Broadly conceived, the collection charts the definition and re-definiton of rights and liberties endemic to Western political traditions. The main focus is texts and documents relating to the American Revolution, its run-up dating back to the Commonwealth men, and coming down to documents of the early Federal government.
