Something went wrong!
Hang in there while we get back on track
Holiday in the City critically examines historical representation and the reception of visual propaganda across time.
Today, similar visual tropes persist in commemorative displays, albeit through contemporary materials. Shop windows in central Minsk present a fragmented reconstruction of the past, combining Soviet symbols, St. George ribbons, medals and stamps with plastic flowers, mannequins, and household items. This juxtaposition reveals a dissonant visual language, where memory is mediated through commercial spectacle.
