- Translated titles: Wan-Li the chinese boy / Mickey the thief.
- Wan-Li defies his oppressors by cutting off his queue and joining the Young Pioneers in Moscow. Myshka the thief is one of the thousands of homeless children after the Russian Civil War, who turned to petty thievery to survive on the streets. The boy is saved from a life of crime when he joins the children's house in Moscow set up by Lenin to combat hooliganism during the New Economic Policy.
- The illustrator was a prominent Soviet Social Realist artist who designed military propaganda posters and illustrated books by such authors as Gorky, Arkadii Gaidar and Tolstoy.
