Item description: L’Imagination (Phantasies) is a series of 19 lithographs of which 15 appeared in the Charivari between January 14, 1833 and October 19, 1833. Four more appeared between December 16, 1843 and March 1844.
Artist information: Charles Ramelet (1805-1851) was a lithographer and worked for the Charivari since 1832. Ramelet transferred Daumier’s drawings from this series to the lithographic stones, while Daumier was serving his prison term in Dr. Pinel’s clinic.
