Item Summary
This work is part of "Isolation" series (2019-2021).
The description provided by artist: A magpie on a fence in Kyiv ("Isolation-8") - Homage to Pieter Bruegel. "The Magpie on the Gallows".
As you know, the picture of the Flemish artist, painted in the 16th century, is built on the contrast of a beautiful landscape and a terrible awareness of the mass destruction of supporters of the new faith. The magpie symbolized talkativeness, tendency to lie, slander and denunciations, attributes of the dark times. Homage to Pieter Bruegel demonstrates the repetition of the atmosphere of terrible events in the 21st century with numerous victims of bloody Russian terror.
Digital print on paper, mixed technique
