Provenance
Taylor Ms. 10 was originally part of a larger 248-folio manuscript (designated "c"), which was broken up in 1937 into three parts. M.C. Seymour has localized the manuscript to Worcestershire, around 1420. The American collector Boies Penrose II (1902-1976), of "Barbados Hill," in Devon, Pennsylvania, purchased the present manuscript after the "c" manuscript had been divided into three parts. Penrose appears to have owned the manuscript as late as 1967, when M.C. Seymour cited it as such in his edition of Mandeville's Travels. It is not known when Robert H. Taylor (1908-1985), of Princeton, New Jersey, Class of 1930, acquired the manuscript. His bequest to the Princeton University Library, 1985.

Script: Anglicana formata.
Decoration: Text begins on fol. 1r with an illuminated border that includes a floriated initial H ('Here") in blue, red, orange, ochre, and burnished gold, with pen-flourished initials and extensions into the upper, inner, and lower margins.
