Color woodblock print depicts an unidentified foreigner paying a visit to the Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro IX backstage. Sitting on a stool at right, the visitor offers the actor cigarettes to allow him to take a photograph. The visitor is probably Italian photographer Adolfo Farsari.
