Provenance
Garrett Ms. 94 is a composite manuscript comprised of two originally separate parts. In the opinion of Richard H. Rouse, the two parts were brought together and bound by the 14th century. Part 1 (quires 1-19, fols. 1r-168v) was written in England, possibly in Oxford as a schoolbook, by various scribes in the middle decades of the 13th century; part 2 (quires 20-31, fols. 169r-243v), more formally written, is of English or possibly French origin and contains sermons (fols. 169r-185r), commentaries on the Gospels (fols. 185r-209v), and commentaries on the Pauline Epistles (fols. 209v-243v). The London antiquarian bookseller Bernard Quaritch purchased the manuscript and prepared a five page description. Robert Garrett (1875-1961), of Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 1897, purchased the manuscript from Quaritch on 10 August 1928. Garrett's gift to the Princeton University Library, 1942.
