Palimpsest leaves from three sources: fol. 1r-42v and 75r-90v from an unidentified liturgical text; fol. 43r-74v from an unidentified theological commentary; fol. 91r-130v from a liturgical text.
Accompanied by a bookmark (131 x 53 mm) made from a fragment containing 26 partial lines of Latin theological text.
Collation: Parchment ; fol. 133 ; modern foliation in pencil.
Layout: 29-33 long lines per page ; ruled.
Description: Many holes in the parchment, most of which are repaired.
Decoration: Lombard-style initials, including an 8-line red A (fol. 75r); 7-line initial Q (fol. 33v); and many 3- to 5-line red initials at beginnings of works. One 3-line pale green painted initial N (fol. 130r).
Origin: Written in northern Germany by several scribes in the third quarter of the 15th century.
Binding Note
Contemporaneous binding. Germany, late 15th century. Dark brown blind-stamped leather over oak boards (8 mm thick). Replacement endbands. Strap and clasps (missing). Holes for bosses and cornerpieces now missing.
