Provenance
Garrett MS. 121 is of unknown early and intermediate provenance. The parchment is from a palimpsested account register giving personal names and sums of money (“libr.”) in Italian and Latin. Robert Garrett (1875-1961), of Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 1897, purchased the manuscript from Olschki and placed it on deposit (GD no. 970). Garrett's bookplate is on the front pastedown. His gift to the Princeton University Library, 1942.

Title from printed catalog.
Script: At least two scribes wrote the main text. Scribe 1 uses southern Textualis libraria, fols. 1r-6v (quire 1), 15r-34v (quires 3, 4, and first half of 5). Scribe 2, writing Textualis libraria bordering on Semi-textualis, copied fols. 7r-14v (quire 2), and fols. 34v-73r.
Decoration: 1- to 2-line red initials in margins to mark sections; occasionally red paraph marks instead. Several decorative maniculae and brackets around lines of note drawn in black ink by a later reader.
Binding Note
Italy, 19th century. Reddish and yellow marbled paper over pasteboard.
