Large double-sheet engraved broadside, upper sheet with engraving, lower sheet with engraved cartouche containing letterpress text. An imposing two-sheet illustrated broadside announcing the defense of a doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Theology of the Sorbonne. This huge thesis print was designed by the prolific Paris artist François Boucher and published by a printmaker who specialized in the production of thesis prints. Copies would have been posted on a wall of the Sorbonne to announce the candidate's public defense of his thesis. The engravings could be used interchangeably for different thesis broadsides.
