- Provenance
- Princeton MS. 46 belonged to the Augustinian monastery of St. John the Baptist, founded in 1159 at Rebdorf, near Eichstätt, Bavaria. The manuscript's late 15th-century ex libris is on the flyleaf, "Iste liber est monasterii sancti Johannis Baptiste in Rebdorff eystetensis dyocesis." Robert Garrett (1875-1961), of Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 1897, purchased the manuscript on 17 July 1925 from Maggs Bros. His gift to the Princeton University Library, 1942.

- Script: Protogothic; written by several scribes.
- Decoration: The first half of the manuscript opens on fol. 1r with a 10-line initial A (“Aspiciebam”) extending into the top margin, consisting of Romanesque white vine-stem outlined in red lead, partially oxidized, with brackets and rounded leaves. The second half of the manuscript opens on fol. 74r with a simple 4-line red initial N (“Noli timere”) extending somewhat into the top margin. Remaining sermons each begin with a simple 2- to 3-line red initial.
- Binding Note
- Germany, late 15th century. Blind-tooled leather over cushioned oak boards (approximately 8 mm thick); in the central panel a lozenge intersected by diagonal crosses; formerly with 5 round bosses, now missing from both front and back boards; two clasps attaching from back to front.
