Provenance
Taylor MS. 13 was owned by John Aston of Cropwell Butler, Nottinghamshire, in the 15th century and includes a contemporary ex libris note added below the colophon on fol. 126v. Robert H. Taylor (1908-1985), of Princeton, New Jersey, Class of 1930, purchased the manuscript from the London antiquarian bookseller Bernard Quaritch. Taylor's bookplate is on the front pastedown cover. His be- quest to the Princeton University Library, 1985.

Script: Anglicana for text; textualis libraria for Latin rubrics; calligraphic ascenders on top line decorated with red pen flourishes.
Decoration: The preface and seven major divisions of the poem open with 3-line initials, alternatively blue with blue pen-flourished initial and plain red. The opening to part 5, probably with a blue initial, has been lost between fols. 63-64.
Binding Note
England, 19th century. Black morocco over pasteboard; front and back covers decorated with rectangular panel, fleurons at corners, tooled turnins, gilt; all edges of the textblock are gilt.
