Provenance
Garrett MS. 90 was written by the Franciscan Johannes Sintram de Herbipoli, probably in Reutlingen in 1415 and Colmar in 1420, then bound in 1444 or shortly thereafter. Intermediate provenance is unknown. The present manuscript was acquired by John Mortimer Hunt, Bellevue, The Holmwood, Dorking. Robert Garrett (1875-1961), of Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 1897, purchased the manuscript around 1903. Written on the inside front cover in ink is the inscription “R.G. Dec. 1903,” and his bookplate is on fol. 316v, the back flyleaf. His gift to the Princeton University Library, 1942.

Title from printed catalog.
Script: Cursiva currens. The manuscript is probably all in the hand of Johannes Sintram, who was also responsible for marginal glosses, running titles, navigational directions, summaries, outlines, cross references, corrections, and location and date of writing references in the manuscript.
Decoration: Red 2-line initials for the beginnings of some texts, e.g., fols. 1r, 144v, 192r, some with simple unpainted geometric designs.
Binding Note
Germany, 15th century. Probably bound in 1444 (or shortly afterwards) when Sintram donated the present manuscript along with 60 others to the Franciscan monastery (Franziskaner-Minoriten) of Würzburg.
