The French democrats will be like other madmen, they have begun by insulting and attacking all their neighbours, and will finish the career in a strait waistcoat. To which is added, that inestimable treatise on the defence of England, by the late General Lloyd. (Dedicated to General Clerk.) Illustrated with a map of France, shewing its former boundaries, and the subdivisions which are necessary to be made in that country. And a chart of the opposite coasts of France, England, Flanders, and a part of Holland.

The Sid Lapidus '59 Collection on Liberty and the American Revolution
After nearly 60 years of collecting, Sid Lapidus ’59 has presented to the Library more than 2700 volumes representing the fruits of his enthusiasm. Broadly conceived, the collection charts the definition and re-definiton of rights and liberties endemic to Western political traditions. The main focus is texts and documents relating to the American Revolution, its run-up dating back to the Commonwealth men, and coming down to documents of the early Federal government.
