The title page ascribes this work to Ibn al-ʻArabī; according to Brockelmann, GAL, II, 300 (4: no. 1); S II, 323 and Arabic manuscripts in the Yale University Library, 1149 the author is ʻAbd al-Laṭīf ibn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ghānim al-Maqdisī, d. 856/1452; ḥājjī Khalīfah, Kashf al-ẓunūn, col. 376 (ed. Flügel II, 242, no. 2688) and Ṭalas, al-Kashshāf, 3389/32 attribute it to Abū al-ḥasan Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān al-Bakrī.
