Item Summary

Biographical booklet of Shlomo Ben-Yosef, born Shlomo Tabachnik near Lutsk in Ukraine ("His Life, His Adventures, His Death"). He was the first Jew executed by the British. His execution took place on June 30, 1938. He was arrested, charged, and sentenced for a failed attempt to ambush an Arab bus in retaliation for the ambush and killing of Jews at the same spot. His execution caused outrage across the Jewish community Mandate Palestine and the world, and galvanized support for Jewish military defense.
