Title by a later hand on tail of text block (the same title appears on fol. 1a). The name of the author appears at the end of the text (fol. 94b). Marginal annotations apparently by another hand. Notes on small pices of paper pasted between the original leaves (see between fol. 6 and 7). Fol. 1 consists of a later endleaf with mention of the title pasted on the recto of an original fol. Inscriptions on the original fol. visible, including a title and kabīkaj. Fol. 95 consists of a later endleaf pasted on the verso of an original fol. Several inscriptions on the original fol. visible by transparency.
Collation: Paper; fol. ii + 95 + i; catchwords ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
Layout: 17 lines per page.
Description: Rubricated ; the entries are repeated on the margins in red ink.
Paper: Light cream paper with laid and chain lines visible.
On fol. 95a: Note mentioning the names of the six "Kutub al-uṣūl fī aḥādīth al-Rasūl."
On the margins of fol. 94b-95a: Several inscriptions mentioning dates of birth; one inscription in Ottoman Turkish.
Origin: Copy completed on a Thursday in the beginning of Dhū al-Ḥijjah 918 [Feb. 1513] by ʻAlī ibn Khalīl al-Ḥanafī (colophon, fol. 94b).
Explicit: ثم انّى ما اعتمدت فى نقل ما اوردته الّا على كتب الائمة الثقات النقاب مثل الاتيعاب لابن عبد الله وحلية الاولياء لابى نعيم الاصفهانى ... وفرغت يوم الجمعة ... عشرين رجب سنه اربعين وسبعمايه من جمعه وتشذيبه وانا اضعف العباد ... محمد بن عبد الله الخطيب بن محمد.
Incipit: وبك نستعين وعليك نتوكّل سبحانك اللهم نحمد على نعمك محامدك ونشهد ان لا اله الا انت وان محمدا عبدك ورسولك صلى الله عليه وعلى اله واصحابه اما بعد فهذا كتاب فى اسماء الرجال مشتمل على بابين الباب الول فى ذكر الصحابة ذكورهم واناثهم.
Binding Note
Type II (with flap) binding of light green leather and cloth over paper pasteboards. Gold fillets for borders, spine, and fore-edge flap. Marbled paper pastedown and free endpaper. Yellow flyleaves.
