Title from illuminated title page (fol. 1a).
Ḥāshiyah on the margin, apparently by the same hand as the main text. Copy mistakes (see 6 lines crossed out at the end of fol. 38b).
Collation: Paper ; fol. 185 ; catchwords ; the quires (mostly quinions) are numbered using arabic ordinals in the form "Thānī" (see fol. 9a; !"khāmis" on fol. 49a) ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
Layout: 17 lines per page ; ruled.
Description: Written in medium small script in black ink with use of red for headings and keywords. Red dot and black circle with a dot at its centre text-stops. The text is vocalized. Thick cream paper with laid lines and chain lines visible .
Decoration: Illuminated title page (ʻunwān) in blue, gold, and red (edges repaired).
Incipit: الحمد لله وسلام على عباده الذين اصطفى والصلاة التامة الدايمة على رسوله اامجتبي محمد سيد الوري وعلى اله نجوم الهدى قال الشيخ الامام الاجل السيد محيي السنة ناصر الحديث شيخ الاسلام ابو محمد الحسين بن مسعود البغوي الفرّا رضي الله عنه اما بعد فهذه الفاظ صدرت عن صدر النبوة وسنن سارت عن معدن الرسالة واحاديث جأت عن سيّد المرسلين
Explicit: عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال جأت امرأة الى رسول الله ... فقالت ان زوجي يريد ان يذهب بابني وقد سقاني ونفعني فقال النبي عليه السلام هذا ابوك وهذه امّك فخذ بيد ايهما شيئت فأخذ بيد [185ب] امّه تم الجزو الاول بحمد الله وعونه وحسن توفيقه من كتاب المصابيح للامام البغوي ويتلوه كتاب العتق وفضله وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد خاتم انبيايه ومفوة رسله وعلى ساير النبيين والمرسلين ورضي الله عن الصحابة اجمعين
Binding Note
Type II (with flap) binding in golden brown leather over paper pasteboards. Both covers have a central stamped mandorla with two small pendants on the vertical axis. Outer border consisting of fillets and guilloche. Similar border on the envelope flap, with small stamp on its point. Ocre dyed paper pastedowns. Disbound.
