Part three of the Takmilat Sharḥ al-Minhāj, a continuation of Kāfī al-muḥtāj ilá Sharḥ al-Minhāj, a commentary by ʻAbd al-Raḥīm ibn al-Ḥasan al-Isnawī (d. 772/1370) on Minhāj al-ṭālibīn, a treatise on Shāfiʻī law by Yaḥyá ibn Sharaf al-Nawawī (d. 676/1278). These works and commentaries are known under several titles. See GAL. This copy comprises the text from Kitāb al-Siyar to the end.

Three ownership statements on fol. 1a, one obliterated, one in the name of Muḥammad ibn al-Kāshif, one written on an erased inscription, in the name of al-Ḥājj ʻAbd al-Karīm, dated 1214 H. [1799 or 1800]. Two ownership statements on fol. 293a, in the name of Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad (or Najīb?) al-Kātib, dated R[ajab, or Rabīʻ al-Thānī] 864 [1460], and of Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn al-Makārī (Hakārī?) al-Shāfiʻī (partly erased). Erased waqf inscription on some leaves (see fol. 20a, upper margin). Acquired from Abraham Shalom Yahuda, 1942.

Title from title page (fol. 1a). Erased continuous text between the lines of the title.
Physical description: 27 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red for headings and entries. Cream paper, glossy, with pulp and chain lines visible (grouped by three). From fol. 269 on, hole in the upper central part of the leaves, with important loss of text (repaired with European paper).
Collation: Paper, fol. 297 ; 1-29¹⁰ 30⁸ (-1 at the end of the quire) ; catchword on the verso of each leaf ; the quires are numbered using Arabic numerals, mentioning the quire number and the part number (see fol. 31a ; cut off on most quires due to trimming of the pages). Note the 51 for 15, 91 for 19, etc.
Inscription in Arabic script in red pencil on the pastedown of upper cover: "77 Irbīl(?)".
Origin: Copy completed by [---] ibn ʻAlī ibn Muḥammad al-shahīr bi-Ibn [---], on 4 Ṣafar 864 [Nov. 11, 1459] (colophon, fol. 293a, partly wanting due to the hole mentioned in the physical description).

Binding Note
Dark brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers. Lower cover badly damaged. Spine and edges mended in red leather. Upper cover might be original, it presents a fine decoration with a central panel filled with a tooled geometrical motif, developing from a central star, with impressions of a small circular stamp. Only a portion of the large outer frame consisting of fillets and a running pattern of a x-shape stamp is visible.
