A versification of al-Taysīr fī al-qirāʼāt al-sabʻ, a work on the readings of the Qurʼān by ʻUthmān ibn Saʻīd al-Dānī al-Qurṭubī (d. 444/1053). The versification is commonly known as al-Shāṭibīyah.

Marginal and interlinear ḥāshiyah, particularly on the beginning of the text. Several definitions, including a definition of tajwīd and tashdīd, and seven lines of poetry in lām-alif on fol. 1a. On fol. 1b, Ghāyat al-Umniyah fī sharḥ rumūz al-Shāṭibī (twelve verses of poetry in lām-alif) by Jamāl al-Dīn Abū al-Ḥasan ʻAlī ibn Aḥmad ibn Ayyūb al-Ṣiddīq al-Turkistānī. On fol. 2a, short text on meteorological prognostication according to the day the month starts with, entitled "Bāb ʻadad ayyām al-jumʻah".

Origin: Copy completed on 20 Jumādá al-Awwal 818(?) by Aḥmad ibn Sulaymān ibn ʻUthmān (colophon, fol. 70b).

Binding Note
Type III (without flap) binding in dark brown leather over paper pasteboards. Both covers have a large central blind tooled medallion, encompassing a twelve-pointed star with small dots filling the compartments defined by the star and circular edge. Spine and edges repaired. The pastedowns consist of re-used pieces of paper with inscriptions. Endbands.
