Title from colophon (fol. 247b).
Physical description: 18 lines. Written in black ink with use of red for overlining and headings. Light cream paper, glossy, with pulp and laid lines visible ; from fol. 174 on, European paper with watermark, with a gold frame on the outer margin of some leaves ; frame-ruled. Marginal and interlinear annotations. On fol. 259a: Inscription reporting a ḥadīth. Mention of a price on fol. 1a. Fol. 1 is a later added leaf on European paper, with a table of contents on its verso. Some leaves are disbound. One bifolio misplaced in fifteenth quire: the proper order is fol. 113-115-114.
Collation: Paper, fol. 250 ; 1⁸ (+1, at beginning of quire) 2-11⁸ 12⁶ 13-14⁸ 15⁶ 16-22⁸ 23-30⁶ 31⁶ (+1, fol. 227) 32-34⁶ 35⁴ ; catchword on the verso of each leaf.
Origin: According to colophon, copy completed on 26 Rajab 1103 [April 13, 1692] (fol. 247b).
Incipit: الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلوة على رسوله محمد واله اجمعين اما بعد فاعلم ان هنا فايدة لا بد قبل الشروع فى المقصود من الاشارة اليها وهي ان المشهور بين الطلبة انه لا يجوز تفسير القران بغير نصّ واثر
