Title from preamble (fol. 10b, l. 23-24). The name of the author appears at the beginning of the text.
Physical description: 23 lines per page. Written in black and red ink. Headings in larger script with re-inking in red. Light biscuit paper with laid and chain lines and pulp visible. Marginal annotations. Fol. 1-8 and 333 [332 in the modern foliation] are later additions of glazed European paper with watermark, with a table of contents on fol. 1a-8a. Several short texts relating stories and fatwas on fol. 9a [8a in the modern foliation]. List of abbreviations used in the text on fol. 9b [8b]. Several inscriptions including ownership statements on fol. 10a [9a]. Magic formula on fol. 335b [334b]. Foliation in red ink using Arabic numerals (starts with "1" on fol. 11a [10a]). Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals (omits the first fol.).
Three spine labels (vertical), one with a red border, with the title in Arabic script, reading "Qunyat al-munyah lil-Zāhidī" ; the scond bordered in blue, with the inscription in Roman script: "R3" (repeated on a similar label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover, and in red pencil on fol. 1a) ; the third almost completely wanting.
Origin: Copy completed in Rajab 823 [July-Aug. 1420] by Najm al-Jalālī(?) al-Bukhārī (colophon, fol. 333b [332b in the modern foliation]).

Binding Note
Brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Both covers have a central stamped mandorla with an arabesque of flowers and an outer border made of several fillets, with impressions of a small circular stamp. The envelope flap has a similar border with a small stamped roundel on its point. Marbled paper pastedowns. Leather doublure for the envelope flap. Edges covered by repairs. The upper cover is disbound.
