- Marginal notes and gloss. Two verses of poetry by Ibn Nubātah (title page). Several verses of poetry, autographs of owners, a statement in praise of the book, an ode by Muḥammad ibn al-Naḥḥās (upper and lower pastedowns and flyleaves).
- Collation: Paper ; fol. (1) + 285 ; catchwords ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
- Layout: 21 lines per page in one or two columns ; frame-ruled in red and black.
- Description: Headings in red, black and yellow ; watermarks (crown-star-crescent; roman-alphabet initials "AD") ; MS in fair condition but several folios are worm-eaten.
- Decoration: Title page decorated with a frame of yellow and red, and some concentric circles. First two spreads in the manuscript frame-ruled in yellow, black and red (fol. 1b-3a). Small marginal black and red illustrations.
- Origin: According to colophon copy completed on perhaps 5 Jumādá al-Awwal 1079 for Ṣafī al-Dīn Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn Amīr al-Muʼminīn al-Manṣūr billāh al-Qāsim ibn Muḥammad ibn Ṣawwān by ʻAbd Allāh ibn Surūr (fol. 283b).
- Incipit: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ومنه الاعانة. الحمد لله الذي جعل قلوب البلغا افلاکا لمطالع البدور واسكنها من فسح صدورهم في منازل السرور ... وبعد فهذا كتاب مجموعه لعريق؟ اهل الادب مفيد ويذكره فيها ذكرا لمن له قلب او القى السمع وهو شهيد ...
- Colophon: تم الکتاب بعون الکريم الوهاب بعد الظهر في يوم الرتوع لعله خامس يوم من شهر جماد الاول احد شهور سنة تسع وسبعين والف من الهجرة النبوية على صاحبها افضل الصلاة والسلام بعناية المولى السيد المقام الاوحد العلامة الهمام صفي الدين احمد بن الحسين بن امير المومنين المنصور بالله القاسم بن محمد رضوان الله عليهما. بخط مملوکه الراجى حفو الملك الغفور عبدالله بن سرور غفر الله له ولوالديه ووفقه لما يحب ويرضا [يرضى] وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وعلى اله ولا حول ولا قوة الا بالله العلي العظيم
- Binding Note
- Later type III (without flap) binding of dark brown leather. Blind-stamped mandorla with pendants and cornerpieces and blind-tooled edging. Yellow paper pastedowns. Spine repaired with red leather. Endbands. Possibly a type II binding with the flap removed.
