- Ms. was possibly previously bound with Islamic Manuscripts, Third Series no. 639, Lubb al-asās, as suggested by the paper and the water stains. According to the owner's statement on fol. 2b: "Ṣāra hādhā al-mujallad fī yad Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyá Zabarah fī Rabīʻ al-Ākhir 1359," while a similar inscription on fol. 1a of Third Series no. 639 states: "Ṣārat hādhihi al-nuskhah min Lubb al-asās wa-mā qablahu wa-mā baʻdahu fī yad ... Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyá Zabārah ... fī Rabīʻ al-Awwal 1359."
- Physical description: 19-20 lines per page; written in naskhi script in black on beige European glazed, laid paper. Catchwords and extensive marginalia; original text in red, except on fol. 242-248 where it is overlined in black. Some damp staining, but text unaffected. Insert between fol. 91-92.
- Origin: First half of text completed in Shaʻbān 1089 AH (September-October 1678); second half completed in Rabiʻ al-Awwal 1090 AH (April-May 1679). This copy completed by Muḥammad ibn Sharaf al-Dīn ibn Muḥammad ... al-Muṭahhar in Shawwāl 1108 AH (April-May 1697) (fol. 248b).
