A collection of sayings, stories, historical extracts and poems by various authors, commencing with the story of Abū Bakr al-Makhzūmī by Lisān al-Dīn ibn al-Khaṭīb 713-776 [1313-1374/5] and containing poems by al-Qīrāṭī 726-781 [1326-1379], Ṣafī al-Dīn al-Ḥillī 677-750 [1278-1349/50], al-Ṣafadī 696-764 [1296/7-1363], a fragment of the Epistle of Ibn Ḥazm 384-456 [994-1064] and other poems and literary pieces by different authors.

Part of Princeton’s Holdings of the al-Madani Library
The Houtsma and Littmann Collections constitute Princeton's holdings of the al-Madani library and are the focus of an ongoing three year digitization initiative that commenced in the Fall of 2021 and was completed in 2024.
Part of Manuscripts of the Islamic World
Manuscripts of the Islamic World offers a curated selection of extraordinary manuscripts hosted or held by Princeton University Library. The manuscripts are predominantly in Arabic, but there are also many in Persian and Ottoman Turkish. The manuscript digitizations here are a fraction of the full Manuscripts of the Islamic World collections, housed in Special Collections in Princeton's Firestone Library. Efforts are ongoing to make the manuscripts of these collections more accessible through conservation, catalog record updates, and digitization.
