Versification of al-Ḥāwī al-ṣaghīr, a compendium of Shāfiʻī law (see al-Durar al-kāminah, III, 195). His master al-Bārizī is mentioned at beginning of text. The text is followed on fol. 148a by 9 lines of poetry attributed to al-Shāfiʻī written by the same hand as the main text.

Incipit Shiʻr lil-Shāfiʻī (fol. 148a): اقول لها والعيس قد جدّ في السرا اعدّ لفقدي ما استطعت من الصبر

Physical description: 18 lines per page. Written in medium large naskh, in black ink with use of red and blue for headings and re-inking; marks consisting of three red or blue dots at beginning, centre, and end of each line; yāʼ for alif maqṣūrah. European paper; glossy; frame-ruled. Occasional marginal annotation. Several inscriptions on fol. 1a, including ownership statements and the copy of a letter from Medina ("ṣūrat maktūb warada min al-Madīnah al-munawwarah min baʻḍ al-fuḍalāʼ wa-li-baʻḍ al-ahsrāf"). Fol. 149: Blank. Stained with water ; blue and red ink washed off on some leaves; some insect damage on lower edge.
Collation: Paper, fol. 149 ; 1-14¹⁰ 15⁸ (+1 at end of quire) ; catchword on the verso of each leaf.
Origin: According to colophon, copy completed on Yawm al-Sabt 17 Shawwāl 1030 [Sept. 4, 1621] (fol. 147b).

Binding Note
