Decoration: Thirteen arched miniatures of three-quarter page for canonical hours of the Virgin (ff. 21r, 29r, 37v, 42r, 45r, 47v, 50v, 53v), Matins of the Cross and of the Holy Spirit (ff. 57r, 60r), Psalm 6 of Penitential Psalms (f. 63r), and the Vespers Psalm of the Office of the Dead (f. 77r), and Vie de S. Barbe (f. 89r), all surrounded by borders of foliate and floral ornament. Twelve 3-line blue initials, with foliate infillings, on gold grounds, for canonical hours of the Virgin, Matins of the Cross and of the Holy Spirit, Psalm 6 of Penitential Psalms, and the Vespers Psalm of the Office of the Dead, all beneath miniatures on the same folios as above. One decorated 2-line initial in blue, ornamented with foliage on gold grounds, for Vie de S. Barbe (f. 89). 3-line gold initial on maroon grounds with gold filigree for the prayer to the Virgin, "Obsecro te" (f. 17r). 3-line champide initial embellished with white filigree for sequence of Gospel of John (f. 13r). Twelve 2-line champide initials embellished with white filigree in infillings and spandrels for KL of the calendar. 2-line champide initials embellished with white filigree in spandrels, for sequences of the synoptic Gospels, hymns, psalms, lessons, chapters, collects, canticles, and Seven Verses of St. Bernard (f. 106v). 1-line champide initials embellished with white filigree in spandrels, for versals, and for beginning of 4-line stanzas of the Vie de S. Barbe. Line-endings in blue and pink embellished with white filigree and gold interstices. Colors of blue, pink, and green, highlighted with gold striations.

Binding Note
French red morocco binding of c. 1740 with gilt borders and with gilt edges, and gilt-stamped paper endleaves; spine-title "Hevres Gotique." In 20th-century red case with spine-title, "HORAE / PARIS CALENDAR MINIATURES / GARRETT 51."
