Ball 30 W. 4th St." embossed below the photograph and which has been identified on the back in pencil "Anna McClelland, Covington, Ky. July 5th 1863"; the second depicting the bust of a dark-haired woman in partial profile with "J. P. Ball 30 W. 4th St." embossed below the photograph; the third a three-quarter portrait of a seated woman in a striped dress with "Ball & Thomas Photographic Art Gallery, 120 W. Fourth St., near Race, Cincinnati, O." stamped on the back; and the fourth depicting a man in uniform standing with his right arm resting on a column and looking directly at the camera with "J. P. Ball 30 W. 4th St." stamped below the photograph.
