At the heart of the History Layers section lies an exploration of time and memory. The project presents three superimposed visual strata, each offering a distinct perception of place and historical event.

The first layer consists of archival battle maps from key sites of World War II, near Königsberg, Moscow, and Stalingrad, tracing the strategic contours of conflict. The second layer reveals the contemporary urban landscape, shaped by global processes of modernization and viewed through the lens of digital mapping technologies such as Google Street View. The third layer features wartime photographs taken from ground level at these same locations, anchoring memory in lived experience.

Together, these layers invite reflection on how places are remembered, reimagined, and reinterpreted across time, where historical cartography, digital mediation, and photographic evidence converge to form a complex visual archive.
