M.H-Torkaman - Mohammad Hassan Torkaman, 27 years old, from Babol, a city in the northern province of Mazandaran, and the son of a prisoner of war who fought in the Iran-Iraq war, was killed near the governor's office in Babol on September 21, 2022. He was shot by security forces for taking part in the nationwide demonstrations following the police’s killing of Mahsa Jina Amini.
KhodaNoor-Makki-Mosque - Khodanour Lojei, a 27-year-old Baluchi protester from the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan was killed during the Zahedan massacre on September 30, 2022. A photograph circulated widely, showing him with his hands tied to a flagpole while a cup of water sat out of his reach. The Iranian authorities posted this image online with the intention to further humiliate him.
Ghazal-Ranjkesh - Ghazal Ranjkesh, a law student from Bandar Abbas, a city in southern Iran, was among the protesters who suffered injuries at the hands of security forces during the 2022 demonstrations sparked by the police’s killing of Mahsa Jina Amini. On November 15, 2022, while returning home from work, she was shot in the eye by security forces. The incident resulted in the damage of her retina and the loss of her sight in her right eye, and she had to undergo surgery to remove the pellets and repair her eyelid. Her face suffered further significant damage due to this incident.
Hamid Reza-Roohi - Hamidreza Rouhi, a 19-year-old university student and model living in the Shahre-Ziba neighborhood of Tehran, was killed during a protest on November 18, 2022. He was hit by three bullets fired by security forces who were trying to suppress the nationwide demonstrations in Iran in response to the police’s killing of Mahsa Jina Amini.
Parmida-Ghasemi - Parmida Ghasemi, an Iranian archer, showed her support for anti-government protests in Iran during an awards ceremony in Tehran in November 2022. She removed her hijab, and the moment was captured on video and widely shared on social media.
Team-Melli - During the 2022 World Cup, the Iranian national soccer team faced growing unpopularity among some Iranians due to their association with the oppressive regime. This led to people celebrating their loss, expressing their anger and frustration by burning or tearing up posters of the players, and chanting slogans against them in public places.
